How would the Asustor AS6302T compare to the QNAP TS253Be? The Asustor has the outputs that I want (HDMI 2.0 and S/PDIF), but I’m unsure about the rest of the hardware setup, including the CPU. In your opinion would the Asustor have the same speed and capacity as the QNAP?
I may delay my decision until more NAS boxes come equipped with HDMI 2.0 output and better CPU.
The AS6302T is a weaker version of 253be (compares with TS-251B or DS218+). If you want something with similar speed as 53be series then you may want to consider AS6404T filled with 2 drives (more added later). Asustor is taking Qnap’s market share with their new innovative HDMI2.0 NAS models. Also optical connection is still used for many music lovers.
Qnap will offer better apps and PCIe upgrade option to a cache/10GbE card. But if you think 4K media playback is what you really need – then Asustor might make more sense.
