Can I use DS1019+ for Plex?

I have been using plex when it used to be called XBMC on my original xbox. My media collection has grown over the years and now I have a big old mess of hardware.

My current setup is.
Late 2012 mac mini running my plex media server.
readynas nv+with 5GB of media.
Drobo 5D with 10GB of meida.

I have about 8 devices that connect to my server at any given point. All different kinds of devices.

I am looking for a solution to replace all three of my parts of hardware.

I have been looking at the Synology DS1019+/DS1618+/DS1819+.

The 1019+ is looking nice as I can add a few M.2 NVMe SSD cards. The price points are not bad.

I would most likely start with three 6TB drives in a Synology Hybrid RAID and one 1TB M.2 SSD card. This would get me able to copy data from my old ReadyNas. Need to off line that bad boy.

Question for you.
Do you think the DS1019+ with one 1TB SSD card, a few 6TB hard drives be able to run plex media server and transcode to a few users without issues? Is it worth upgrading the RAM from 8GB to 16?

I watched a few of your videos and I feel like it should work. But before I spend a good amount of cash I wanted to ask.

I also if you think of a different setup I am open to ideas.

Yes DS1019+ will be able to transcode at least one 1080p stream and many more HD streams. 4K would be a no no. But you could still steam original file to a TV and use offline transcoding function built in Synology to generate and store other versions of the file for mobile streaming and remote access.
You can add one SDD and another one later. You will be able to use this for read cache.  No need to upgrade RAM unless you want to use it for many more things then just multimedia.

I hope this helps.
