TVS-872X vs TS-h886 My question is regarding which one would suit me the best? The NAS is going to be used for the following. Backup of currently 4 devices Surveillance with 4 cameras Multimedia and storage
As for multimedia, I would recommend Core i5 instead of this particular Xeon. It is faster per core and overall performance. Also, GPU chip will help quite a lot. Surveillance and backups require significantly less power compared to Multimedia use. Bot models would cope with that fairly easily.

Core i5 benchmark is 7356 and Xeon benchmark is around 6205. The performance is similar, but Core i series have transcoding engine built-in. This allows covering videos up to 1080p without slowing down overall CPU speed. Anything bigger than this and both CPU will use all resources to convert those videos.
System Memory
8 GB SODIMM DDR4 (1 x 8 GB)
16 GB UDIMM DDR4 ECC (2 x 8 GB)
TS-h886 can be set up with ZFS file system. In combination with ECC RAM (self error-correcting), this would be an attractive choice for web hosting, VMs and other solutions with 100% uptime expectancy.
M.2 Slot

2 x M.2 22110/2280 NVMe PCIe Gen3 x4 slots
TS-h886 comes with a faster NVMe slot. X2 is around 2GB/s and X4 is around 4GB/s speed. You can fully use NVMe SSD speeds.
Qnap 86 series require a card for faster LAN port. It comes with built in 2.5 Gigabit ports. 72XT comes with 10GbE port built in.
