Can I mix drives on Syology NAS

I am stepping into the NAS world with a new Synology 2 disc system. I have a WD Black 4TB HD in my desktop that has served as my media server. My question is can i just plug in my WD Black 4TB drive and add a WD RED 4Tb or WD RED Pro NAS 4TB? I have a little over 2TB of media on the black drive now. In the future, i will go with Synology extension.

Synology allows you to mix and match the different drives, but I would still recommend the same type of drives for a RAID. If one is a WD red drive other should be as well – even with different capacity. If you are not creating RAID but have two separate volumes for each drive, then you can benefit from maximums speed from the black drive or pro drive. But yes, you can mix drives.
