NAS for VPN, cloud service integration and surveillance

Hi, I am looking for a new NAS, my buffalo only supports SMB 1.0 so that is a challenge with Windows 10 dropping it (and the pogo plug cloud option never impressed me). Also I am back to college doing evening education in university in IT and there I need to integrate with services like Dropbox, google drive, onedrive, etc. maybe some calculation (one of my classmates has a Synology doing some statistical query against GitHub from the device using some script) and talk is now about GHtorrent to use for more data for the project (a torrent of all statistical data for many years collected now).
I will also be traveling so was thinking of setting up a VPN server so I can use open Wifi access points safely and stream home TV. And last but not least I want to purchase about 6 IP camera’s after some reasoning happened burning part of my garden.
What should I buy?

You should consider getting Synology plus series NAS this will offer enough power to host 6 cameras or more, as well as let you integrate all popular cloud services like Dropbox, google drive, onedrive. The DS218+ will do also VPN and offer local and remote video streaming. If you want something you can expand later- look at DS718+ which can be expanded up to 7 drives and 16GB RAM later on. This will also sort out your NAS connection stability issues as this is a true market leader in network storage.
