NETGEAR ReadyNAS RN214 OR Synology DiskStation DS218+

Curious to see if you have any advice to offer on these two NASs…

-NETGEAR ReadyNAS RN214
-Synology DiskStation DS218+

It would be for personal use Video, Photo and Document Storage

ReadyNAS is not a very popular choice among home users. The fact it comes with Dual LAN connectivity clearly indicates that it is a business environment data storage solution. The LAN ports can be link aggregated to increase file transfer speed as well as enabling load balancing.

This NAS will do simple NAS functions but will struggle with third-party apps. People who have bought this NAS complain about lack of support and app functionality.

Whereas DS218+ is made with a home user in mind. I come with many first-party apps and even more third-party apps. You can easily turn this thing into a multimedia center, replace the dropbox and get the best photo organizing solution. It comes with a built-in artificial intelligence helping you to get things done quicker and more natural way.
