Please pardon my ignorance and thank you for your helpfulness. I’m a NAS Newbie, and not Network
competent. I purchased the TS-453BT3-8G with the thought that I could use its 2x T3 ports, 1x
10Gbe, and 2x 1Gbe to connect multiple computers to its stored data–and to each other–in an
internal cloud uninvolved with the Internet, and that at least the T3’s and 10Gbe would be at
10Gbe-ish speeds. Can the 10Gbe port of the iMac Pro be connected directly to the TS-453BT3-8G
without my involving a 10Gbe switch such as the NETGEAR 5-port 10Gig Gigabit Ethernet Unmanaged
Switch, 1xSFP+ (XS505M)?

Step 1
Make sure that the 2 devices are in the same IP subnet. For example:
PC 1 IP address: 192.168.0.1, subnet: 255.255.255.0
NAS Drive ip address: 192.168.0.2, subnet: 255.255.255.0
If the NAS is “Out of the box” new, then it should be configured for DHCP, meaning it would be given a default address if you connect it directly to your PC. In this case, you should do the same for your PC, and configure it for DHCP.
Step 2
Discover your NAS Through the Qfinder Pro discovery tool
Download the software from QNAP website, and you should be able to find it.

Procedure
1.Connect the NAS to your PC/Mac with a direct ethernet cable. You may use any of the available LAN port on the NAS.
2.Set your PC/Mac to IP address 169.254.100.99 and submask 255.255.0.0

3.Run Qfinder on your computer. It should find your NAS with the IP address we set up in step 2.
In this case, the NAS IP is 169.254.9.168
4.Try if you can ping NAS IP
5.Try if you can see QTS web interface
What can I connect to a NAS?

Now you have great functionality added to your TV to send a video file directly from your NAS to a TV. No need for wires and chargers and other mess. Amazon Fire TV
You may not have a smartphone, or you just simply prefer to control your content with a remote in that case Amazon Fire TV will be a great addon to get to your TV. It also plugs into your HDMI port and will play content from your NAS to a TV. No wires no mess.nVidia Shield TV
It gets even better! If you want some more entertainment and all previously mentioned functions - nVidia TV is a great thing to get. You can use it for playing games and watching movies from your NAS. The greatest thing is - shield TV does video transcoding. So even if you have a cheap NAS with a weak CPU, in a combination of shield TV you can now automatically on the fly change video file size and format for a destination device.
