PhotStation or QuMagie – The Brand-new interface for a streamlined experience for 2019
QuMagie is the next-generation of Photo Station. Featuring a streamlined user interface, a built-in timeline scroll, integrated AI-based photo organization, customizable folder covers and a powerful search tool, QuMagie provides you with the ultimate photo management and sharing solution.
QuMagie, QNAP NAS and the Ability to Identify over 390 subjects
QuMagie integrates an AI deep learning algorithm that enables facial recognition, subject identification and geography tagging of the photos on your NAS. Similar photos are grouped together in the AI Albums (including People, Things, and Places).
Find your photos faster in QuMagie than in Photo Station on QNAP NAS
QuMagie provides comprehensive search filters, allowing you to quickly find photos using tags, people, date, title, or by the photo’s colour. You can “Include” or “Exclude” filters to streamline your search results.
More features of QuMagie on your QNAP NAS
The benefits of this new photo cataloguing and indexing software are pretty good, especially when combined with the cool facial recognition functionality. Such as:
Backup photos from all your devices
QNAP NAS provides a large storage space for you to easily back up the photos from your computers, mobile devices and portable storage.
Private collection
As multiple users can use the same NAS, you can set your photo albums as password-protected private collections so that only you can access your own photos.
Easily share your photos
You can share selected photos via email, social media, share link, or with another NAS user.
New Multimedia Console to Improve how your Data Integrates across your QNAP NAS
The Multimedia Console consolidates all the multimedia applications in QTS into one app, allowing administrators to centrally manage multimedia apps and their permission settings.
What is my opinion on the QuMagie QNAP NAS Photo Software?
Is this going to be as good as, better or worse than the Synology Moments application? Very hard to say, but I can already see several factors about this device that, if true, set it aside from the Synology application very well. Features such as better integration with existing first-party applications and group tag searching, these are things that are still very much overlooked on the Synology alternative when compared against the QNAP QuMagie application. Additionally, QNAP has a much broader history in AI with their hardware, as well as better hardware options across their range. I am excited to not only preview QuMagie when it is released in QTS 4.4, but also how it compares with QNAP PhotoStation and Synology Moments later in 2019.

Note: the Multimedia Console will be released in Q1, 2019, additionally you will need a NAS system with at least an x86-based NAS with QTS 4.4.1 (or later); 64-bit ARM-based NAS with QTS 4.4.1 (or later).
