Brand New 3-Bay Intel, HDMI and SSD Cache Enabled NAS for 2018
The TS-551 supports three 3.5-inch hard drive storage spaces and two 2.5-inch SSD dedicated ports for higher security RAID 5 protection while enjoying SSD cache without taking up the data storage space of a 3.5-inch hard drive. The 3.5-inch hard drive tray features a tool-free snap-on design that makes it easier to install the hard drive. 4K @30Hz HDMI output, Qtier automatic tiered storage, advanced virtualization capabilities and diverse productivity applications add multimedia and intelligent management potential to the TS-551 to help you handle your daily tasks and tasks more efficiently.
The TS-551 is equipped with a 14nm nanotechnology Intel® Celeron® J3355 dual-core 2.0 GHz processor (with a bursting frequency of 2.5 GHz) and 2GB of DDR3L dual-channel memory (expandable to 8GB) with 2 Gigabit network ports and SATA 6Gb support. The interface(S) provides excellent continuous read performance for smooth and fast tasks.
The TS-551′s built-in Intel® AES-NI next-generation encryption engine maintains smooth and fast data read and write speeds even when AES 256-bit NAS encryption is accelerated, while maintaining important NAS data while maintaining system performance and safety.
SSD cache dedicated Bays on the QNAP TS-551 NAS
The TS-551 provides two 2.5-inch SSD dedicated ports that enable SSD caching, which accelerates IOPS performance for disk access and meets the performance needs of dense access applications. QNAP’s Qtier technology gives automatic tiered storage services, helping the TS-551’s 2.5-inch SSD and high-capacity SATA hard drive storage space to achieve uninterrupted storage, improving system performance and economical system configuration. The latest Qtier 2.0 IO Aware feature can be used to store key data directly in the SSD layer, and can be used directly to store key data, allowing high-priced SSDs to realize their value and improve storage cost performance.
HDMI output 4K and Plex on the QNAP TS-551 NAS
Featuring an Intel® Celeron® J3355 dual-core 2.0 GHz processor, the TS-551 supports dual-channel 4K H.264/H.265 hardware decoding and real-time transcoding, allowing you to convert videos to universal file formats that can be smoothly played on multiple devices*. QNAP Linux Station is integrated with Ubuntu® OS, allowing you to download and install versatile multimedia apps from Ubuntu Software Center, such as Plex Media Server, KMPlayer, LibreOffice and VLC. QNAP’s HD Station also allows you to directly enjoy multimedia using HD Player or third-party players such as Plex Home Theater. By connecting the TS-551 to a HDTV or A/V receiver you can enjoy watching videos with up to 4K resolution. You can use the QNAP remote control (optional) to easily control the multimedia entertainment experience with the QButton function. The processor and hardware specifications of the TS-551 provide H.264 and H.265 8-bit hardware accelerated decoding, encoding, and transfer files. The actual video presentation quality will vary depending on the playback software, file format, system resource usage, and network bandwidth used.
Storage for hosting VMs and containerized apps on the TS-551
Virtualization Station allows you to host virtual machines (VM) on the TS-551 and access them via a web browser or VNC. Virtualization Station supports multiple operating systems, fast VM creation, VM backup & restoration, VM import/export, snapshot, and Device Management for centrally managing VMs. Virtualization Station allows the TS-551, VMs and containers to share the same LAN port. No longer constrained by physical network performance, high-speed virtual switches greatly increases data transfer between VMs, containers and NAS through the internal interface. The TS-551 also features Container Station, which integrates LXC and Docker® lightweight virtualization technologies. You can operate multiple isolated Linux® systems on the TS-551 as well as download apps from the built-in Docker Hub Registry®. Containers Station also supports the QIoT Containers platform that helps quickly structure your IoT environment and deployment on your private IoT cloud.
QNAP TS-551 NAS and QVR Pro Surveillance
The TS-551 supports QVR Pro Surveillance, that integrates QNAP’s professional QVR system into the QTS operating system. You can arrange a dedicated, independent storage space for surveillance data on the NAS and leverage the advantages of scalability and storage manageability from QTS. QVR Pro features a flexible monitoring interface that allows adjusting the proportion and monitor view of IP cameras, supports an upgraded timeline feature that provides instant video search and quick view identification in live monitoring mode, and allows for monitoring views and playing back images without switching between windows.
Additional functions like batch adding and editing cameras and searching for cameras across different LANs further save the cost and time in deploying and maintaining a complete surveillance system. With the newly-developed QUSBCam2 App, you can use a USB camera as an ONVIF network camera. Simply connect it to your TS-551, and you can view real-time images without installing any software. Through QVR Pro, you can even store recordings for playback, allowing you to build a surveillance system with minimum budget.
