One of which sees Areca finally break into the world of Thunderbolt 3 and the other sees a return to the world of SAS and all the advantages of that wonderful 12GB/s connectivity! What is the Areca ARC-8050T3 Thunderbolt 3 RAID enclosure?
The Areca ARC-8050T3-12 Thunderbolt 3 RAID-system offers powerful RAID-systems with slim dimensions. Available in 6-Bay (ARC-8050T3-6), 8-bay (ARC-8050T3-8)and 12-Bay. There is also mention of a 4-Bay (ARC-8050T3-4)to follow.

What is the Areca ARC-8042 12GB/s SAS RAID enclosure?
The ARC-8042 SAS to SAS desktop RAID subsystem provides 12Gb/s SAS host interface link to the host board on the server system. This RAID controller utilizes the same RAID kernel that has been field-proven in existing internal/external SATA/SAS RAID controller products, allowing to bring stable and reliable SAS RAID external subsystem. The ARC-8042 provides external storage chassis capable of accommodating up to 12 12.0-Gb/s Serial-Attached SCSI (SAS) drives or 6.0-Gb/s Serial ATA (SATA) drives.
