As of today, there is no real need for 8K TV unless you have 8K video camera at home. But there is simply no movies out there in 8K (Maybe Star Wars only).

Is there ever going to be 8K movies in the future? Yes, even though the human eye might not see a difference between 4k and 8k, there is something to keep in mind. If you have a home theatre with 70 inch or bigger screen or projector, you will find it disturbing to watch HD movies. Some TVs come with upscaling technology, but it is not perfect.

This is the time when you can notice a difference between 4k and 8k – the screen size. It will look the same on 40inch TV, but massive screens will require 8K. It will be a very heavy video file, but it will become a norm in 10 years.
