I am looking for a device to automatically backup all of my personal photos and videos. I would like to access these much in the same way as google photos but with the added benifit of the harddrive backup. I started at the WD my cloud and through research found myself between the DS118 and the DS119j. What would be the best option for my needs? What would give me the best experience possible for the budget price?
Synology Moments app will do seamless photo backup on your mobile devices as well as computers. This app comes with an artificial intelligence built in and outcompetes Google photos by a mile. You will be able to filter pictures by GEO location, time and even people and objects. It is some incredible software.
The cheapest option would be DS118 which is pretty fast for a 1 bay NAS. If you decide to have mirror drive protection – consider ds218play.
