Here is a step-by-step guide on how to enable SHR on XS series Synology models like the DS3615xs:
- Connect to your Synology device using a web browser and log in to your newly created account.
- Once logged in, go to the Control Panel and select Terminal & SNMP from the System section.
- Under the Terminal tab, check the box to enable SSH service on your Synology device.
- Connect to your Synology device using SSH. You can use a tool like PuTTY to do this.
- Once connected, navigate to the /etc.defaults/ directory by running the following command:
bash
cd /etc.defaults/
- Open the synoinfo.conf file using a text editor such as vi or nano:
sudo vi synoinfo.conf
- Locate the line that reads “supportraidgroup=”yes”” and add a pound sign (#) at the beginning of the line to comment it out, like this:
c
- Add a new line below this commented line and type the following:
makefile
support_syno_hybrid_raid="yes"
- Save the changes and exit the text editor.
- Restart your Synology device to apply the changes.
- Once your device has restarted, go to the Storage Manager in the Control Panel.
- Click on the Create button and select Create Storage Pool.
- Follow the prompts to create your new storage pool using the SHR (Synology Hybrid RAID) option.
- Once the storage pool is created, you can create volumes and start using your new SHR-enabled storage.
Congratulations, you have successfully enabled SHR on your XS series Synology device!
