Advice on un-official RAM upgrade for Qnap TS-451DeU
I am looking for an unofficial alternative for RAM upgrade for my Qnap TS-451DeU.
The name of the official Qnap model is; RAM-4GDR4A0-SO-2666. I have requested Crucial’s service centre for the same issue, but they replied that; “We are sorry to inform you that Crucial do not have any equivalent memory as your QNAP TS-451DeU supports ECC memory and Crucial do not have any ECC memories. ”
Can you please advice me on wheter it is possible / adviceable to use non-EEC memory on a NAS that supports ECC memory and recommend and non-official alternative to Qnap’s RAM-4GDR4A0-SO-2666?
Lastly; system specs for TS-451DeU says that the maximum RAM is 8GB. Do you have any knowledge / experience if this is “absolute” or wether it also will work with for example 16 GB?
Celeron based models do not support ECC RAM. This model has regular DDR4 RAM. Even though it says MAX 8GB, just like 51d and 53d series, you can upgrade up to 16GB if you want to.
Qnap offers two frequencies for their RAM on this model 2400 and 2666.
