Realtek Semiconductor Corporation, a leading network and multimedia IC provider, has announced the release of the RTL9220DP high-performance storage solution. This single chip, housed in a compact 10mmx10mm 88-pin QFN package, offers a USB3.2 Gen2x2 (20Gbps) interface and serves as a bridge for dual-port solid-state drives. The RTL9220DP supports both PCIe 3.0×4 lanes NVMe1.3 and SATA Gen3 (6Gbps) SSD specifications, making it suitable for use in various applications such as portable high-speed SSD duplicators, flash drives, enclosures, USB dual-port card readers, and docking stations. It also features support for the Type-C connector.
The storage solution provides several key features to address users’ advanced data storage needs. It supports JBOD (Just a Bunch of Disks), RAID0 (striping for improved performance), and RAID1 (mirroring for data protection). In USB-to-SATA mode, it offers SATA3 support with a bandwidth of up to 6Gbps per port, maintaining backward compatibility with SATA Gen2/Gen1.
Additionally, the RTL9220DP incorporates power management features, including a dynamically switching power state with NVMe/SATA/USB power management in low-power mode. It employs an algorithm that optimizes power consumption and performance balance. The chip also includes built-in Addressable RGB functionality, enabling customized LEDs without the need for extra components. This feature allows for high-quality visual effects, such as breathing lights and magic color LED modes, enhancing the aesthetics of external storage devices.
Realtek emphasizes the device’s eco-friendly and energy-efficient nature. With Active State Power Management (ASPM), NVMe/AHCI dynamic energy saving, and SATA automatic power mode detection technology, overall power consumption is reduced, resulting in a more reliable and environmentally friendly system. Realtek’s Vice President and Spokesman, Yee-Wei Huang, highlights the RTL9220DP’s contribution to consumer productivity and the pursuit of a higher-efficiency lifestyle.
Realtek Semiconductor Corporation is globally recognized for its IC products, including those designed for connected media, communications networks, computer peripherals, and multimedia applications. The company offers a diverse range of solutions, such as Ethernet controllers, wireless LAN controllers, Bluetooth devices, audio solutions, IoT solutions, and more.
