Qnap NAS ts 212 vs ts 251b -multimedia

Qnap NAS ts 212 vs ts 251b. I have an Qnap ts212 and i use it mainly to store a lot of pictures (about 60k) but this nas is very very slow to upload from camera or phone (backup through the app) or any other device, but also just to access the data from the pc or from mobile app (via wifi or cable, no differences), i feel like middle age solution because it take so long minutes.

My questions :
is it very slow due to poor specification (processor, ram,…) or too much data (only half of the 2 go are used) ?

is the new TS-251b quicker and which ram should is take : 2 or 4

last question : Better synology or qnap, especially for all these pics and video ?

Yes, TS-212 series are very slow, because it is mainly for backups. When you copy multimedia files, it tries to access metadata and organize the images. With a Synology, there is an image indexing pause button on the top bar. This will allow quicker file uploads. The slowdown is indeed related to a hardware performance which is not fast. If you choose TS-251B or DS218+ you will notice much faster file uploads and smoother user interface. You will be fine with 2GB RAM unless you are planning to create multiple servers like web server, database server etc. If I need to choose between Qnap and Synology as a media organizer, then Synology with its Moments app I very difficult to beat.
