Will the DS218Play work ok with the Sonos

Will the DS218Play work ok with the Sonos system i.e. does it run SMB file sharing for Music ? Reason I ask is i saw a video showing the Sonos working with a DS216 Plus II and wondered if the 218 Play will do the same?

The answer is yes, DS218play will work perfectly fine with Sonos speakers. You can share your folder with a music to your Sonos. And it gets even better. If your SONOS speaker comes with Alexa, you can ask what to play from your collection on your speaker without clicks and remotes. Here is how (How to enable the Audio Station skill on Amazon Alexa).

SMB

The SMB (Server Message Block) protocol allows Windows, Mac, and Linux clients with SMB/CIFS support to access data stored on the Synology NAS. If you would like to browse files on the Synology NAS via Windows Explorer or mount shared folders as network drives, please enable this option at Control Panel > File Services > SMB/AFP/NFS.

To enable SMB protocol:

  1. Tick Enable SMB service.
  2. Click Apply.
