Which NAS to buy regarding OS
I keep searching online, but not very manufacturers have that information. I want to buy new NAS, What I have read that on mostly products, the NAS OS is stored on a particular partitions on HDD that you put in NAS. My question is are there any NAS that has specific storage space in its own system to install its OS? Therefore, NOT the ones which installs OS in HDD…
All NASes install their OS on HDDs. But you can use Qnap cache ports or M.2 SSD card to create a separate volume. You can then reinitialise it which will place an OS on this fast SSD. This will speed things app. Apps like Plex would benefit the most since all caching would be done on this fast media.
I hope this helps.
