Will 24TB WD Gold be compatible even though it’s not listed in compatibility list with other 24tb drives? QNAP probably just haven’t tested those yet?

Have you recited a video of connecting the QNAP TS-h973AX with the TS D1600S?
REPLY ON YOUTUBE
great video, one quick question if you can answer this. I want to buy a 10gbe card to plug directly to my mac studio but Qnap only recommends this one for almost 200 dollars 10GbE network expansion card, Aquantia AQ107, PCIe Gen3 x4, low-profile bracket pre-loaded. Do you know of a card that can do the same at a cheaper price? You can provide the affiliate link and I will buy it from there to support your channel. I bought one from amazon but it did not work and I couldn’t find a way to install any drivers for that card so I ended up returning it. Let me know what you would recommend. Thank you!

Want to see p2000 installed and working with Plex hardware encoding.

It’s an interesting unit, but for me I would want the option to park cores or underclock/undervolt the system to get power usage down. It has twice the power draw of an asustor 10 bay nas which was dual 2.5 gbe and dual 10gig. + 2 m2 ports. With power costs spiralling 20% a year due to everyone’s moronic fascination with net zero, that 0.04% carbon in the atmosphere will doom us all!. Also a little disappointing it doesn’t feature ECC ram at this price point.

Does this support raid6? Cannot find any info on this.

That slot for a GPU is Gen3X4 … I am no expert but any GPU that fits that slot is likely to be BUS powered? Yes?

Great video. Is it good NAS to be used for video surveillance and video streaming at the same time?

You helped me get my own NAS up and running!

$1900 for a 16 bay enclosure with an ATOM processor and single PS?? and the 10GB (or 25GB) ethernet connection is an add on card with poor thermals?? I dont think so….and yes, it ALSO needs 16GB ECC ram minimum

When running, is it noisy?
REPLY ON YOUTUBE
What would you recommend to buy to run a (next-)cloud and jellyfin for ~5 users, accessable from outside of the LAN. And maybe run a weak windows VM to run a gaming-server to have 1-2 people access to and playing around with it?
Prebuild NAS or Selfmade? Any precise recommendation?

I say it as it is, size does matter.

Hello NAS compares what is your preferred web browser when using each nas portal ???
This qnap is a dream, …
REPLY ON YOUTUBE
Apologies upfront to QNAP but underwhelming is the best description!
Being an avid QNAP user & loving most of it, to me it appears QNAP is starting to cut corners a wee bit steep nowadays?
Only 8GB RAM is very regrettable as that out-of-the-box limits the usage of QuTS Hero for some of its features (inline deduplication requires 16GB of RAM)
For the prosumers the price of the TS-1655 appears to me quite high? If I compare it to, for example the TVS-h1288x, which has way higher hardware-specs and is price-wise very close to this model? (300 to 400 euros) But then with 10GBe, very decent PCIe-lanes and so forth.
I could be wrong but it appears to me that QNAP tries to enter the Synology-arena where one limits the hardware to reduce costs as much as possible, to compete.
BTW, I do not know if you have noticed it (but I do!) that QNAP is more & more dropping audio-output and -input in most, if not all, of their recent models?
In fact, when I got an in-warranty repair for an older model QNAP via Germany the other week, the model returned to me had no longer audio-input nor -output, only empty holes when the motherboard got replaced 🙁

Maybe not desktop, more like under desk.
That’s an expensive foot rest!

I was just looking at this unit this morning, after finding it’s JBOD enclosure last night, perfect timing with this video

Any server with that much storage ought to have redundant PSUs…; a business relying on one of these is screwed if the PSU or mainboard fails.
REPLY ON YOUTUBE
In terms of network storage? Yes. But a rack form factor is better than such a massive desktop box I would say.
