Cannot Install Plex on DS223 or DS423

The Plex app is no not the AppCenter.

Using the package centre to manually install the DSM 7 ARMv8 version of plex, I get the package not supported error.

Where I am going wrong?

Yes, there is still no package available from Plex for the RTD1619B CPU.

If this was TS-233 with that particular CPU, you could use Container (Docker) to install Plex even though there is no app available. But Synology only allows this on plus series models.

In meantime, you need to use DS Video/ Video station app. But there is more of bad news. New Synology models do not support H265. Good luck with video streaming, remote CCTV, Phone family videos on Photos app.

I would recommend Qnap for multimedia.  Now with Tailscale you can connect and access your data safer then Synology.

Or you can set up alerts for the Plex test table when they do release an app.

SOLUTION

Now with DSM 7.2 release candidate available, you can install Container Station which will allow you to downlad PLEX doker image. This should work.

This should also help with DS423 and when DS123 or D124 is released.
