I am an amateur photographer, and I use Fujifilm. Fujifilm RAF (RAW) files are not shown in Synology photos (a friend of mine tried it out) and WD Mycloud does show them. So, no matter how I try to switch to Synology, old faithful WD comes up with a trick in its sleeve.
- Supported File Formats:
- Image formats: BMP, GIF, JPEG, PNG, RAW (3fr, arw, cr2, cr3, crw, dcr, dng, erf, k25, kdc, mef, mos, mrw, nef, orf, ptx, pef, raf, raw, rw2, sr2, srf), TIFF, HEIC (See limitation 5)
- Video formats: 3G2, 3GP, ASF, AVI, DivX, FLV, M4V, MOV, MP4, MPEG, MPG, MTS, M2TS, M2T, QT, WMV, XviD
- Live Photo (See limitation 5, 6)
- 360° photos and videos
Limitations
- To ensure system performance, facial recognition is only supported on certain models. Please refer to this article for the full list
- Folders can only be uploaded via drag-and-drop on Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge
- Drag-and-drop only supports 5,000 files per upload
- Folders will not remain in their original tree structure when uploaded via drag-and-drop
- HEIC files and Live Photos require the Advanced Media Extensions package to be displayed
- Live Photos consist of a still photo and a video and require both components to be played. The following models do not support Live Photo video conversion and will show all Live Photos as still photos:
- 20 series: DS120j
- 19 series: DS119j
- 16 series: DS216se
- 15 series: DS215j, DS115, DS115j
- 14 series: RS814, RS214, DS414, DS414slim, DS414j, DS214+, DS214, DS214se, DS114
- 13 series: DS213j

Limitations
- To enhance the backup efficiency of iOS devices, please enable notifications for Synology Photos and connect your device to the charger
- When multiple iOS devices share an iCloud storage but the synchronization of photos between devices delay, Synology Photos might not be able to back up all the photos taken during the delayed time
- Casting via AirPlay is only supported on iOS devices
