NAS for photo, video production- start on Laptop finish on Desktop

NAS for photo, video production. I have a real estate photo and video business that I am looking to get more connected when I am out in the field (car). I want to start my post production on the road w my labtop then switch to my desktop at home. I am a mac and Adobe software user. Any thoughts.

Switching computers based on a location is a very popular choice lately. Some people also are looking for a solution to be able to start work at home and finish it at work. The result was two Synology NAS systems. One at work and one at home. Both NAS synchronized in the background, over the internet. In result, people can start working on the project directly from the NAS with the highest bandwidth connection. Then commute to the work. During the commute, files are synchronized with a NAS at work.

In your case, you can work on your Laptop with a Synology drive app installed which will automatically synchronize all selected folders with a NAS and other connected computers. If a laptop has a wifi- synchronization will happen instantly. If not- when you arrive at a home or office, give it a few minutes until synchronization is done. And you will be able to carry on working from other computers.

I would suggest using ds218+ as a 2-bay option with mirrored data on both disks. Or getting a DS418play with a RAID5 and one drive redundancy.
