NAS for plex & Kodi & M-TV

I am looking for a backup solution with Video options i.e. plex & Kodi & M-TV. I have narrowed down to the what i think may be the best two and would like your advice with pros and cons of each. Synology 918 vs qnap 253be. Both are about the same money and i plan to run at 4-8gig RAM.

Unfortunately, Synology does not support KODI because it doesn’t feature HDMI port. But it does Plex though and will be able to transcode 1080p content with no problems at all. When using NAS with a third party apps like KODI or Plex, a brand doesn’t matter much, but hardware does. As everyone knows knap offers better value for money hardware-wise. So I would definitely choose Qnap for these tasks. You can transcode, stream locally or over the HDMI. There are no other big differences.
