Selection DAS+NAS device

selection DAS+NAS device. I am first time user for NAS device, but i am looking also to connect my Macbook pro directly to the NAS device for uploading or downloading files. which is the best model. i am looking at 4 bay. is the QNAP 451A suitable, can i connect this device directly to my mac for file transfer, this is not advertised as DAS why so ?

Yes the TS-451A as well as TS-453B can be directly connected to a MAC or Windows over USB3. The maximum transfer speed will be very same as network speed – around 100MB/s. If you need much faster transfer speed you will need to look at Thunderbolt NAS options. This will come with the price though. The cheapest 4-bay thunderbolt NAS/DAS is around 1000GBP.
