WD- RED PRO or WD GOLD – video production

I am in the need for a RAID system because of my video production. I am looking into OWC 4 bay case with thunderbolt -2. Which HD will you suggest between WD- RED PRO or WD GOLD.

Video production will indeed require fastest drives like WD Pro and Gold. The truth is- they are both very similar. Probably for the same reason, WD have discontinued their Gold series and now you can have a discount when buying them. The only suggestion would be – get a spare one now because you might find it more difficult to find a replacement drive later if you need to replace a broken drive.

In theory, WD Gold should last longer, because it is made for datacenters environments with heavy read and write operations. But it will not be far better than pro drive.
