Will there be a DS223+ or DS224+?
UPDATE JUL 2023
Synology 2-bay NAS range compared (DS223j, DS223, DS224+, DVA1622, DS723+)
Is there any indication this will happen?
We have found listings in Vietnamese e-shops. This might indicate a soon-release worldwide.
What specs to expect?
There is not spec sheet available yet. But based on release history, Synology always make a 2-bay and 4-bay version with the same specs. Since 4-bay is already released (DS423+) we can expect the same hardware in a 2-bay.

when will this ever be launched? I need a DS224+ NOWWWW ๐
Few weeks most likely. All retailers seem to have spec sheets already.
If Synology does decide to go with a 224+ rather than a 223+, wouldn’t that indicate some sort of hardware improvement over what would have been the 223+?
That is to say, either a newer CPU than the 423+ or god forbid a 2.5Ghz port?
or some other minor upgrade like USB
No, the number only indicates the year of release. It will be the hardware as mentioned above.
So it would seem. ๐ That’s pretty lame.
I’ll bet Managing Counsel made the decision to call it a 224+ even though the marketing teams and developers were all like…
“but its the 2-Bay version of the 423+ released a 2 months ago… and it’s still middle of 2023, we should call it 223+. This will just be confusing for consumers… Oh, that’s the goal hear. OK, nm, 224+ it is.”
Marketing and Developers leave the meeting muttering to each other, Managing Counsel’s really have no idea do they?
Yes, I wished the names were ds223+ / ds423+ for simplicity too.
