The DP7200 is the latest addition to Synology’s ActiveProtect family. It supports up to 150,000 workloads and enables central monitoring across 2,500 locations, designed to address the backup needs of distributed enterprises. With built-in ransomware protection, SAML authentication, and deduplication, Synology is further pushing into the enterprise backup appliance market — now directly competing with Veeam-based solutions and cloud-native rivals.

4. Synology Showcases PAS7700 and AI Surveillance at Interop Tokyo 2025

At Interop Tokyo, Synology revealed several major storage and surveillance innovations. Key highlights include the PAS7700 — an active-active NVMe all-flash NAS for mission-critical use — and the CC400W AI-powered Wi-Fi camera. Synology also demonstrated the latest Surveillance Station and ActiveProtect platforms. The event marks the company’s continued expansion into AI-integrated edge services and high-availability enterprise storage.

5. Symply Introduces LTO-10 Tape Drives for Media, AI, and Backup Archiving

Symply has incorporated LTO-10 tape technology into its Pro desktop and rackmount storage devices, offering up to 30TB native and 75TB compressed per cartridge. Aimed at media production, medical imaging, and large-scale AI archives, LTO-10 retains key features like LTFS, write-once security, and affordable long-term retention — reinforcing tape as a relevant archival format even in an SSD-dominated era.

6. Seagate Pushes HAMR to 100TB with Mozaic HDD Platform

Seagate used its 2025 investor summit to reaffirm its HAMR-based Mozaic platform roadmap. With up to 10TB per platter in development, Seagate plans to launch 100TB drives for hyperscale and archival environments. This move addresses growing storage demands in AI model training, compliance, and unstructured data retention — and reasserts HDDs as cost-effective alternatives to high-capacity SSDs for cold or warm tier storage.

7. D-Link Launches DBR Series Routers and APs for SMB Networks

D-Link unveiled the DBR-600-P, DBR-700, and DBR-X3000-AP — a trio of SMB-targeted routers and Wi-Fi 6 access points. These models offer PoE, SFP, 2.5GbE support, and integrated VPN/firewall capabilities for businesses with limited IT staff. DBR routers can manage up to 15 APs, making them a solid option for small offices looking to deploy secure, scalable networking alongside NAS infrastructure.

8. Utran Technology Unveils 28-M.2 SSD PCIe 5.0 Card

In one of the most eye-catching storage prototypes of Computex, Utran Technology revealed a PCIe 5.0 adapter card capable of housing 28 M.2 SSDs. Offering up to 224TB and 109GB/s throughput, the card is powered by a Broadcom PCIe switch and consumes 400W. Though not hot-swappable and aimed at niche use cases, it highlights the continued pursuit of ultra-high-density storage in HPC and AI datasets.

9. QNAP Launches Edge AI Storage Server for LLM and Private AI

QNAP introduced a new Edge AI Storage Server built for on-prem AI workloads, LLM inference, and smart surveillance. This hybrid appliance integrates GPU support, virtualization, and private model deployment using frameworks like Ollama. It reflects QNAP’s pivot toward AI-integrated NAS platforms with real-time inferencing and model training capacities — critical for sectors like retail, healthcare, and smart manufacturing.

10. Realtek Debuts Affordable 10GbE NIC and PCIe 5.0 SSD Controller

Realtek’s Computex 2025 showing included the RTL8127 10GbE controller — designed to bring high-speed networking to consumer and prosumer motherboards. Additionally, the RTS5781 PCIe 5.0 SSD controller promises 10,000 MB/s throughput without DRAM. With these products, Realtek positions itself to challenge Intel, Marvell, and Phison in two critical storage bottlenecks: networking and flash controller performance.

11. AI Server Growth to Drive NAND Flash Price Increases in Q3 2025

TrendForce reports that continued AI infrastructure expansion by North American hyperscalers will push enterprise SSD demand up in Q3 2025. This, coupled with earlier supply limitations and new U.S. tariffs, may lead to a 10% QoQ price increase for NAND flash. The resurgence in HDD and SSD orders from CSPs suggests sustained capital expenditure and possibly tighter component availability for NAS builders.

12. j5Create Unveils Thunderbolt 5 Docks, AI Audio Tools & Creator Gear

At Computex, j5Create showcased a full suite of accessories for digital creators, including the JTD5172 Thunderbolt 5 Dock, the Stream Station Pro 4K, and SpeechTrack AI Meet recorder. The range supports AI-powered video effects, live summarization, and high-speed display/output chains — all useful in media NAS workflows, content backup, and mobile creator ecosystems.

13. TerraMaster Launches F4 SSD – Compact NVMe NAS with Intel N95

TerraMaster introduced the F4 SSD, a 4-bay NVMe NAS with an Intel N95 CPU, DDR5 RAM, and a sub-20dB fan profile. Designed for silence and performance in small offices or media studios, it offers USB 3.2 Gen 2, HDMI 2.0b, and 5GbE networking. As a flash-only model, it joins the growing list of compact NAS units shifting away from SATA.

14. ASUSTOR Releases ADM 5.0 with Kernel 6.6, SMB Multichannel & New Defender

ASUSTOR’s ADM 5.0 OS update is now live with major improvements: Linux Kernel 6.6 LTS, Samba SMB Multichannel, firewall enhancements (ADM Defender), and a revamped UI. The update also includes support for SSH keys, OpenSSL optimizations, and a built-in text editor. It solidifies ADM’s security and performance, especially for Lockerstor Gen2/Gen3 and Flashstor systems.

15. Samsung to End MLC NAND Production Amid Market Shift

Samsung has confirmed it will halt MLC NAND production by June 2025. Once the standard for reliable SSDs, MLC has now been overtaken by TLC and QLC. This move pushes OEMs toward denser, more affordable storage options, though endurance-focused applications (e.g., enterprise NAS, surveillance) may face reduced sourcing options. Kioxia and Micron remain among the few vendors still offering MLC alternatives.
