QNAP TS-332X 3-Bay NAS – 10Gbe+SSD+HDD

QNAP Reveal the TS-332X, their latest 3-Bay NAS

I remember a simpler time when Network attached storage was predictable! You had 2 bays, 4 bays, 8 bays and rackmounts. However the last 12 months has seem some really unusual NAS come to the market and the latest release to be uncovered by QNAP promises to continue this trend. The new TS-332X from QNAP is a 10Gbe HDD and SSD enabled NAS, that promises to be fast, affordable and compact. featuring a similar chassis design as the TS-328, this device let’s you install upto 3 Hard Drives in a RAID environment (upto RAID 5) and additionally 3 m.2 SSD drives for fast access storage or caching as needed.

What is the QNAP TS-332X NAS and is it a big deal?

This is the latest in a long series of 10Gbe NAS devices for 2018 and it would be easy to imagine it getting lost in the noise when this and the majority of the new NAS are released in a few months. However there are a number of features about the TS-332X that do make it stand out.

Not only the fact it let’s you install mixed media, but also that it arrives with an SFP+ (fiber) 10Gbe port. This means that the bottle neck that is often the curse of 1Gbe RJ45 when running a NAS on SSD media is no longer a problem.

Those looking to edit photos, video or just large files in general on the QNAP NAS will be able to take advantage of the full speed of SSD via a connection that will not restrict them. Additionally, the fact there is two types of access port (1 10Gbe and two 1Gbe) ports means that you will be able to aggregate them or even have two separate users connect via 10Gbe and 2Gbe and edit/access big files, at the same time, whilst still maintaining network/internet access over 1Gbe for distribution, sharing and backing up. This is not a new concept, but at this price level and at such a great consuming access point (featuring mixed internal media) is very unique indeed!

What are the Specifications of the QNAP TS-332X 3-Bay NAS

Although a lot of information is still yet to be released on this small, yet powerful device, there is still plenty to be going on right now and if you ant to stay tuned, don’t forget to subscribe to NASCompares and click the notify me button to learn more.
