First let me say – NAScompares is a very good information source on many products – thank you for this ongoing dedication to craft.
Should you have ever have extra hours in your normal 36 hour day, it would be helpful if you could pass on anything regarding the configuration of QNAP’s QWA-AC2600 WiFi PCIe card to users who watched your earlier review of this product.
Below is my recent review on NEWEGG.com in the US:
QWA-AC2600
TITLE — Lots of Promise – If we Could Configure the Radio like other Modern AP’s !
PROS — The QWA-AC2600 installed fine in my QNAP QGD-1600P hybrid NAS/managed switch, at least I can see it on my network.
CONS — I purchased a QWA-AC2600 and installed it in my QGD-1600P. It works … sort-of, however just try to find ANY radio config information online: radio channel defaults, authentication options, radio power settings,…etc, from QNAP or anywhere. I haven’t. Hoping YMMV.
This could be a good product if we could configure it like any other modern WiFi AP radio gear ie. like my Ubiquiti AP’s or even consumer grade WiFi gear. Under QTS you can configure virtual switches that link to it and provide DHCP options, but nothing that remotely looks like fine grained radio setup. Very frustrating. QNAP-UK does a very good job presenting detailed info but has no videos on this product. Only videos available are from QNAP-Taiwan.
If you only need one WiFi AP and/or only understand how to setup an SSID, an IP address for the radio adapter, that sort of basic WiFi config, then this QWA-AC2600 should work for you. Look elsewhere for any more advanced uses. Maybe i just haven’t found this detailed setup information yet. Until I do the QNAP QWA-AC2600 is not going to be very helpful in my use-case with other AP’s that need to integrate it with, adjust radio power levels, isolate WiFi channels …etc.
