NAS for 4K editing and 8K video storage

I was trying to decide on which QNAP NAS to buy. I run a small boutique branding agency. We have about 7 or 8 videos being shot each month along with about 1000+ photos per month. Right now I’ve been running off individual drives but everything is filling up quickly.

I was considering the following : TS-932X or the 8 bay version

But upon looking at that one, I came across this model : TVS-871

Not sure what to get. We don’t have that many users that will be working on the project at the same time – Maybe 5 in the near future. Right now only 3.

However, we would like to be able to store 6k video footage and edit 4k footage on the server from multiple computers.

I was hoping that you can lead me in the right direction.

 

For 4K editing, you need dual or more 10GbE ports. The 4K requires a lot of bandwidth. TS-932X Could work with one or max 2 connections, because it is more like an archiving NAS rather than editing NAS. It is made for quick backups.

The TVS-871 is a solution, just need to install 10GbE. The most popular choice for editing is TVS-1282T3 for those who have MAC systems. But it is also compatible with Windows.
