NAS or DAS for Lightroom and Photo Archive

I currently use an iMac and MacBook Pro with a LaCie 2Big 3tb mirrored drive as my primary storage to edit and manage photos for my photography business via Lightroom and Photoshop. I need to expand storage and I’ve become a bit tossed up between a Synology NAS, Drobo or QNAP with Thunderbolt. What would you recommend for a working photographer needing working and archive storage and using Apple and Adobe products?

Qnap indeed have amazing success with their innovative DAS/NAS product line. I am not sure how long Drobo will be around, they have stopped to invest in new products. And Synology would be an option, but editing would be done over the network. Many editing apps do not allow network storage and simply do not let you do the work. Of course, there is a way around with ISCSI connection which will fool your system that there is a physical drive connected to your system. But there each connection allows only 1 computer – so collaboration is not allowed and sharing will need to be done through the computer rather than NAS.

Qnap will serve both worlds. You can have multiple editors connected over Thunderbolt port and even more people over the network connection. All projects can be shared and collaborations will be welcome. Also editing software will see Qnap as directly attached storage. This solution is selling like hot cakes.
