New DS220j from Synology?
UPDATE
There will be a release of a DS220j late February or early March.
The big changes Synology have made are upgrading RAM to the latest DDR4 technology which results in faster CPU cache and lower power consumption in general.
Will there be DS220j?
It is very likely that this NAS model will be a real thing. Synology have been replacing this model every year for past few years and they will probably do the same thing this year. This is just a prediction only and have no facts that it will actually happen. But if it does – you will see updates on this very same page.

What can I expect DS220j to be able to do?
Same as the DS218j new 2020 series 2-bay J-series NAS will only serve as a simple backup for your MAC and Windows machines. Plex might be removed actually if they move to the Realtek CPU as Synology still do not have a stable Plex application available. But simple local streaming to compatible TVs and other devices should cause no problems. This would be a great NAS for those who do not yet know much about NAS and their expectations do not involve things like virtualization and docker.
