What the hardware specs to expect?

It will be Intel, i3, i5 and maybe they will decide to add also i7 later, but not now.

Also looks like it will feature USB3.1 gen2 as well.

Can I replace Pentium CPU with Core i7?

I bet you can! All of these three CPU feature the same socket – FCLGA1151. There is limited space for the cooling fan, but it should still work.
