Hi there, what would you recommend between the 220+ at around £325 and the 718+ at about £380? Will be for home use. I won’t ever need more than 2 bays. But which would be more future proof and give the best experience. Unlikely to be a power user, there might be some docker use but mostly will be simple file sharing and similar. Thanks in advance.
These two NAS models are fairly similar performance-wise. DS718+ is less than 20% faster, but it does feature slower memory and older graphics chip. DS718+ can also be expanded with an expansion unit.
Both of these NAS will perform backups tasks equally well. The only difference when you will notice a difference is with virtual machines. Faster CPU will make those VMs run slightly faster.
I hope this helps.
