How to edit photo and other file timestamps/ date of creation on Synology NAS

 

You can do it graphical interface.

Open Synology Photos. Select a photo and click the Info button. Then Click edit and change the date of the photo.

 

Change the entire folder photo creation date.

Allow Terminal access

Open the terminal on your MAC or Putty on your Windows.

Connect to the NAS. Replace admin with your user name. Replace IP with your IP.

Go to the folder where you need to change the metadata

Change a single file

Or change all files in the folder

Check the status of the file

  1. Thank you! I just wanted to clarify this DOES change the metadata values as well, but if you have a file organization system by date (via lightroom for example), then you’ll have to take that extra step.

  2. Why changing date-taken of multiple photo’s on command line?
    Select the photos you want to change in a map and click the menu-dots. There you’ll find an option to change the date-taken.
