Cheapest NAS for surveillance, backup, and music

I’m considering the TS-228A because it’s within my budget and allows four surveillance cameras. Most NAS come with only two licenses, and additional licenses are rather expensive. I’m concerned that only 1G of memory in the TS-228A might be an issue using up to four cameras. I also wonder if the Realtek RTD1295 is up to the task. My application is two continuous camera video streams, computer backup, and music streaming. I add two additional portable cameras for a total of four cameras when away on holiday. All cameras are HD. Perhaps PLEX in the future. as well. 4TB-6TB usable storage RAID 1.

TS-228A is a pretty cheap and yet very good looking NAS. It is not as good as most popular NAS- TS-253Be but it will do a good job when you are not pushing it too much. It will cope well with the cameras and backing up your files. But it will struggle when you will try to do all these things together. With a good planning you can back things up during morning or night so once you are streaming there is enough power to cope with that.

There is also now Plex app available in its alpha, but it works very well as it is.
