combination of remote backup and snapshots
What would you suggest on using as a data protection policy a combination of local snapshots and on top of that a remote backup? That is, taking on a scheduled basis snapshots and then on a remote backup scheduled task copy all the data along with theirs local snapshots on the remote site. I have only found videos on youtube proposing / explaining one of the above data protection methods, but not a combination of both of them. Would that make any sense?
Yes, you can have both and more. You can have file version control and also snapshots and on top of that high availability (two local NAS synchronised and ready to take over if one fails) and remote replication. All this can be done with Synology plus series NAS like DS918+.
