Best NAS after Transporter EOL

I’ve been using the Transporter which has fit the bill for me to a ‘T’…. But it’s now the “End of Life” for that system and before it’s too late, I’m lost as to what would be the best follow on for myslef and my company. I’m really the only one who uses this ‘private cloud’ but my wife and business partner have shown interest…. I don’t need much but would like RAID 5 capiblity and a few bells and usable whistles.

 

Personal Dropbox Alternative Transporter is now indeed EOL, but there are so many better alternatives available now. For RAID5 protection you will need something with 3 or more disks. You can start with something simple like DS418j. You can fill only 3 bays and add an additional drive later when you need to. With Synology, you can mix drives. Its smart technology will figure out the best way to maximize most of the available space on the disks. It will also turn out to be cheaper than Dropbox and definitely be much more secure.
