Memory Upgrade of Synology DS916+
Does DS916+ support 16GB ram and what is the exact specs of Ram to be used.
Synology recommended max RAM size is 8GB. But if you have patience you could dismantle the unit and use Crucial 16GB DDR3 stick. Lately Synology is adding warning messages to scare people and and stop them upgrade with non-Synology RAM. But people can not justify Synology RAM price and to it anyway.

Also Pentium spec-sheet recommend to have 8GB per slot. But DS916+ has only one RAM slot.

Here is Crucial alternatives:
8GB
Crucial CT102464BF160B 8 GB (DDR3L, 1600 MT/s, PC3L-12800, SODIMM, 204-Pin) Memory
16GB
Crucial CT204864BF160B 16 GB (DDR3L, 1600 MT/s, PC3L-12800, SODIMM, 204-Pin) Memory

Pull this page. It has bad info and is gumming up searches. The 916+ only has one slot so if you have the patience and take it apart you can still only use 8gb and wasted your time.
NO, IT’S TRUE. The 916+ can have 16GB of memory with a SINGLE MEMORY STICK. In my case, I have an MT16KTF2G64HZ and I have 16GB in DSM, and the memory test shows ‘Memtest passed’ !
