Update on the RS1619xs+ NAS for the Synology 2019 series
The RS1619xs+ is the latest reveal at the Synology Solution Exhibition in Taipei is the latest NAS to join the elite XS series of devices. This new Synology RS1619xs+ Rackstation NAS, as discussed in our previous article a couple of weeks back) has several rather groundbreaking features and hardware that have really changed the shape for what passes for a powerful 4-Bay NAS. Unlike every new Synology 2019 series NAS we have told you about on NASCompares so far, this new 4-Bay has easily the most powerful CPU on any Synology 4-Bay to date! Synology themselves at their event stated:
- Intel® Xeon® D-1527 Quad-Core 2.2 GHz burst up to 2.7 GHz CPU
- 8 GB DDR4 expandable up to 64 GB
- Optional 10GbE add-on card Option
- Flagship in 1U form factor
Till now the XS series was never available as a 4-Bay Rackmount NAS and until now buying an XS NAS meant that you needed to buy a powerful NAS that had a big storage option from day 1. However, this generally means that the cost is considerably higher than other 4-Bay NAS devices and creates an unpopular divide between devices when choosing. The Synology RS1619xs+ completely solves this and gives you insane power without the need to commit to a vast amount of storage space/footprint in your environment.
What are the Hardware specification of the Synology RS1619xs+ NAS
Aside from the CPU and RAM options mentioned already, there are more details surrounding the hardware specs that have been made clear by the staff at the the Synology Event:

What are the software specifications of the RS1619xs+ Synology NAS
The software limits and abilities of the RS1619xs+ from Synology can mostly be gauged from the hardware. As this is a 2019 Series Synology, it will arrive with Diskstation Manager (DSM) 6.2, the Synology user interface and operating system. This features a wide variety of first and third-party applications and support. Below is the software available via this hardware

When will the Synology RS1619xs+ NAS be released
As the RS1619xs+ from Synology has only just been announced, it is still way too early to state a release date. However, given the fact it is a 2019 Series device, I think we will see this device released in September/October in line with several other Synology NAS releases at this time. I genuinely believe we are looking at one of the most compact yet POWERFUL NAS devices from Synology in many years and I am really looking forward to putting it in it’s paces soon. Do remember to stay tuned to NASCompares to stay up to date with all things NAS and stay tuned for our full on-site coverage of CeBit 2018 in Hannover nest week!
