Black Friday 2025 Early Deals – Data Storage from Synology, UGREEN, QNAP, WD, Seagate, UniFi, Terramaster and More

Early NAS & Storage Bargains and Deals this Black Friday 2025

Black Friday 2025 has arrived and this year the spotlight is not only on traditional Synology/QNAP upgrades but also on the fast-growing world of alternative NAS platforms (after the PR nightmare that was 2025 for Synology re:HDDs!), DIY server builds, and software licence promos. Synology’s desktop lineup has seen a bunch of refreshes recently in the x25, which means popular models such as the DS423+ and DS923+ may finally see meaningful reductions, while entry-level units like the DS223 and BeeStation series are expected to feature the most aggressive pricing. At the same time, UGREEN is pushing hard with its NASync range and making ALOT of noise in the world of home/prosumer NAS, and several of these systems are already appearing with early Black Friday discounts. DIY NAS enthusiasts also have more choice than ever, with multi-bay chassis and compact servers from CWWK, AOOSTAR, Jonsbo cases, and Minisforum’s N5 receiving notable reductions. UnRAID has confirmed incoming licence promos for Black Friday soon, making it an ideal time for new users to adopt flexible array management and VM workloads. Then you have Terramaster making 10-20% off promos on their 2025 series AND the m.2 focused F4 and F8 Devices! Even newer entrants such as UnifyDrive are participating, with the UT2 receiving one of its biggest discounts to date and now sitting in an extremely competitive price bracket. Below you will find updated recommendations for the best NAS models for backups, Plex, business, and surveillance, along with live offer links for all major NAS ecosystems as Black Friday deals continue to roll out.

Hot Tips when you Buy a NAS this Black Friday 2024

In order for you to get the very best NAS deals this Black Friday, here are some hot tips that I have personally used for the last few years to get the very best deals.

Amazon Warehouse Deals are 20% lower

For those that aren’t aware, Amazon has a whole section of their website that is dedicated to pre-owned and opened items. This includes both NAS, hard drives, SSD and more for your storage. During Amazon Black Friday 2024, the discount on these broken-seal items will be increased by an additional 20% and for those looking for an insane bargain, this will be irresistible.

Another tip when buying NAS or Hard Drives from Amazon Warehouse is that although (as they are broken seal/used/returned items) they have a shorter warranty from Amazon, you will almost certainly be able to claim the FULL warranty coverage from Synology, QNAP, WD or Seagate. They just want your serial number and a receipt of purchase – this will not state the amazon reduced warranty.

Amazon Prime for FREE

The prices listed on Amazon for NAS during the Black Friday event are only available to Prime members. If you are not a member, don’t worry, as you can use the 30-Day free trial to sign up for a Prime, or just pay for 1 month of Prime as a student and get it at 50% off. Then after you finish your purchase, you can cancel your subscription. The other bonus of this is that you will qualify for fast, next day delivery for free. I would recommend however that you do not cancel your subscription until you have received your order and tested your item.

As then you will still be able to take advantage of the fast and free return policy extended to Prime members. This is especially useful when buying NAS Hard Drives and you are worried about broken drives!

Improved Delivery on your NAS Black Friday Deal

It is a well-known fact that Amazon Prime membership includes free next day delivery and Amazon has even upped the stakes by stating that they will be providing the fastest-ever Black Friday delivery of just 14 minutes between the cart and the courier, last year we saw and heard numerous examples of delivery issues with Black Friday deals, adding 2-3 days on supposed next-day shipping.

If any of your Amazon Prime delivery dates are not the 24 hours turn around that they promise, then definitely complain to Amazon after you receive your goods (not before) as they will almost certainly have a deluge of customer enquiries after Black Friday 2024 and  in an effort to conclude the matter, you might get an additional discount, a gift vouchers or more. Currently, the trending ‘gesture of goodwill’ gift is a free month of Prime membership.

      1. I just bought a Beelink EQR6 Ryzen 5 24GB RAM, and a Crucial 4Tb SSD, for less than a turnkey NAS. It’ll run rings around a turnkey NAS and provide more than enough storage for my needs, all while being near silent. I may add a second 4Tb SSD as a parity drive. I’m probably going to use unraid so that I have that choice.

If I had need for more than 16TB storage, I’d probably build a DIY NAS and run TrueNas Scale.

      2. So I bought the Terramaster F2 424 for Black Friday. This is gonna be my first NAS. I was wondering since I see you have a few videos on this device. I need it for backing up my MacBook and my iPhone plus be a storage area for all my photography. Client photos, and hopefully powerful enough to edit photos straight from the device. I was wondering, is there a good app for that they offer to back up the MacBook and MacBook Pro kinda like Synology?

      3. @Robbie
Hey, apparently on the WAN Show tonight, Linus was talking about HexOS being released beta for testing, said he had a video all about it that comes out this Sunday on his channel, and that there will definitely be a one time payment lifetime access plan ($50 today, $100 in December … eventually $300 long term – you might want to get ahead on that) and … that iX Systems is actually an Angel Investor in this company … thats who owns TrueNAS.
        Did ya know that?

      4. Love the time stamps but white writing on white backgrounds make them less than ideal.
I’m going to take a punt and assume “Same as last year – Nothing for Australia”.

      5. I have 2 Synology NAS’s a 418 and 920+ but my next NAS will the UniFi NAS. Synology has lost the vision for prosumers I feel. I do love the DSM OS and ability to run Docker, Plex, etc. natively but for about one hundred bucks you can get a Zima board that you can run all those apps on. Lack of network ports that are above 1 Gig is a dealbreaker for a lot of people.

      6. Not worth buying whatever price because Synology just dropped HEIC support. All my iphone photos cant be face recognized anymore on Synology Photos. WTH. Synology just broken all the trust removing only reaaon i bought Synology. WTF.

      7. A few days ago I bought a WD EasyStore 20TB USB drive off of BestBuy for ~$250 chuffing USD. Not bad IMO. I might buy another as it’s still at that price. Just started an extended S.M.A.R.T test on it and that will likely take days.

      8. I don’t want to add salt to your food, but nxt year in April/May both QNAP and Synology will launch a completely new line. Isn’t it wiser to keep your money in your pocket and save up for a new generation NAS!

      9. Any idea what 4TB and 8TB ssds work on TERRAMASTER F8 SSD PLUS that is a great deal on Black Friday? The comparison chart on the Terramaster store is very old
        REPLY ON YOUTUBE

      10. Unfortunately there won’t be 1825+, or at least with the hardware we would like to see. There is no way Synology will cannibalize their 1823xs+ sales…
        REPLY ON YOUTUBE

      11. Such a shame about hardware in these. After watching your recent video on Asustor it seems to make more sense to get something like a Lockerstor Gen2 for just a bit more than a Synology DS923+.
        REPLY ON YOUTUBE

      12. Do you have a recommendation for case that can hold ATX mobo and hot swap HDDs? I want to upgrade my machine and use the older parts to upgrade my current NAS.
        REPLY ON YOUTUBE

      13. Synology emailed yesterday to say “We have amazing discounts starting 25th November on selected Synology NAS models and our WRX560 WiFi-6 router.”, they list partners to buy from; Amazon, Broadband buyer, Scan, Ebuyer, laptops direct & box
        REPLY ON YOUTUBE

      14. Hm. If there are tariffs to the US, there is a good chance that the prices in Europe will go down. Because the produced goods have to go somewhere. So prices will probably get under pressure.
        REPLY ON YOUTUBE

      15. Looking at DS420+ vs. DS920+ vs DS923+ vs DS423+ for iPhone Photos (12,000), 1440p video and General 4 PC backups.
Which unit would be best bang for buck anyone able to shed some light?
        REPLY ON YOUTUBE

      16. Once upon a time, black friday was THE time to buy electronics and computer parts…especially motherboards. I’d say for about ten years now that hasn’t been the case. Monitors, TVs, pc parts, NAS’s have been having their all time lowest prices from around mid Spring time thru Summer. I’ve still seen some super low prices on some gaming consoles and of course the budget tier TVs usually like you say Rob, about 1-3 weeks prior to black friday. I’m guessing I have around 1,000 or so camelcamelcamel price alerts set up and I’ve only been getting 3-6 daily price alert emails, same for prime day which means the prices are higher than their recent lows. There is some exceptions to the triple camel and that is the bonus % on a prime card and some sales don’t hit camelcamelcamel quick enough to alert the email but it’s rare.

      17. Robert, again great video
        Thanks you for sharing!

I was secretly looking for a new NAS, and I can’t say goodbye to the brand QNAP my current model TS-653D. But was so disappointed because after my firmware update ‘QTS firmware 5.2. 2. 2950’ I had so much trouble and I could no longer log in with my password and not even after a reset with the Cloud Key. The problem was ultimately in the QNAP QM2-2S10G1TA 2-Slot PCIe Network Expansion Card. After this I could log in with the Cloud Key (with 1 spare hard disk) Firmware downgraded and everything is now functional again. Only from now on I can no longer use my Twonkey Server because I performed a reset and it now indicates that this OS version no longer supports it. While on my identical other NAS that I had updated, but had not reset it just works fully. Very unfortunate, I was very frustrated about this, but QNAP has been in my heart since 2007! So this love can’t just end….

      18. Would you recommend buying Aoostar Gem 10 with the occulink 4 bay m.2 extension as a NVME NAS?? They don’t have any deals on black friday but their pricing is really good especially in comparison to the CPU performance, and want to pull the plug on it.
        REPLY ON YOUTUBE

      19. Grabbed the F4-424 Pro a week or so ago since Amazon Canada already moved some on a Limited Time Deal. Ironwolf 4TBs are holding at $124.99 CAD, so I’ll probably grab 2 to go with my existing 1 and populate my NAS after I get it setup with the OS on my (yet to arrive) SSD. I’m irritated that certain things I’d _like_ are gated behind Amazon Prime for this Black Friday though; _huge_ turnoff for any impulse purchasing when I see that already.
        REPLY ON YOUTUBE

      20. Is there something similar to the TS-1655 but with a cpu that has an igpu? That form factor is essentially what I’d love. Brand doesn’t very much matter to me
        REPLY ON YOUTUBE

      21. Thanks for doing this vid. Almost bought an SSD for read only cache for my Synology on impulse but your 3 years old video helped me avoided the unnecessary purchase as it’s not relevant for my use case. But I bought a 20TB WD external HDD for hyperbackup ????
        REPLY ON YOUTUBE

      22. Very disappointed with Asustor ‘Black Friday’ prices – specifically the FlashStor 12 Pro – Gen 1 & Gen 2. Have gone with a TerraMaster F8 SSD Plus model instead.
