How to install an Intranet between computers and NAS

Hi, I would like to install an Intranet (wired RJ45 connection) between my 2 computers and my Synology NAS DS216j in my home office. Is it as simple as adding a router and three RJ45 cables? I would like a fast connection, not slowed down by WiFi to work large files.

If this switch is connected also to a router with DHCP (automatic IP address allocator) service, then simply connecting everything to a switch would work.

Otherwise you will need to set a manual IP address for each device in your local network. Something like:

192.168.0.1

192.168.0.2

192.168.0.3

If you want to avoid manual IP configuration, then instead of a switch you need to get a multi-port router. This will automatically give every connected device its own IP address so it can communicate with other devices.
