LenovoEMC NAS alternative for storage -VMware

I need to replace an existing LenovoEMC px4-400d NAS (2x1Gbps ports, 4x2TB WD Re2 HDDs) used as a storage for existing VMware 5.5 cluster (2xHPE ProLiant DL360e Gen8 servers).
Want to provide faster and more reliable solution, ready to finally switch to 10Gbps NICs/switch.
Was thinking of getting something like Synology FS1018 with 5 or 6 1TB Samsung 860 Pro SSDs, but getting over my max, not sure if this Synology NAS is better than some other less expensive Synology or QNAP NASes populated with the same SSDs.

Yes, the 10GbE has become a new network standard. Every week we are working on dozens of solutions including both 10GbE ethernet and fiber. You are right about FS1018. It will be overkill if all you need is a storage solution for VMware. Any NAS with 10Gbe or PCIe slot for its upgrade will do the job. You could go Qnap X series. But if you mention better reliability I would suggest getting DS1618 with 10G card or DS1817 with ports on the boards.
