WD Red Pro NAS vs WD Ultrastar DC HC500
We’re upgrading to a 16 bay Synology NAS and am struggling with storage choices.
I’m looking at both WD Red Pro NAS and WD Ultrastar in the 14TB flavor. Will one be better for this application?
This quite an easy question answer. Ultrastar drives are made for enterprise environments offering a longer warranty, twice as long reliability, and lifespan and even speed. But there is nothing wrong to use these drives in your setup. It might be slightly louder, but there is no real disadvantage.
