      1. Cheers for posting helpful details to Synology NAS community!

In future blogs could you augment your commentary to include the following 2 features – please:

De-duplication : always handy to have a tool that identifies repeat photos. Synology’s Storage Analyzer can be enabled to evaluate any file type for “Duplicate File Candidates”. What are the capabilities of Synology Moments + Photo Station?

Folder Organisation: Another handy feature of some photo management software is to automatically place photos into storage folders during upload (i.e. by date that photo was taken, or location). How does Synology fair with regards to such skills?

        -//-

Keen to evaluate the unification of Synology’s photo tools — which seems to be envisaged with DSM7 (due for public release at some point in 2020) ;o)

      2. Moments sorts pictures on Date Modified not Date Taken. Date Modified changes when facial recognition and tags are applied to the pictures causing the collection to resort and be presented incorrectly.

        Comment from Synology Support:

        Hello,

Thank you for your request, but unfortunately not at this time. I will make sure to add request to add the Date Taken sorting option in the future, however, I do not have an ETA when it will be added.

        Best regards,
        Dan

          1. I was reviewing features on “Moments” and feel the same regarding the previous “Moments sorts pictures on Date Modified not Date Taken” comment. “Date Taken” sorting would seem to be an important feature and I would also like to see this if possible!
            Thanks,
            Bill

        1. This is not true. 1. Moments does use the date taken EXIF tag. 2. Facial Recognition does NOT update the file (tagging does, but it does not change the sort date, which is date taken).
