NEW NAS & Storage Bargains and Deals this Black Friday 2025
Black Friday 2025 has arrived and this year the reductions cover every corner of the NAS and homelab market. The entire Synology 2025 line including the DS925+, DS1525+, DS1522+, DS225+, and DS1825+ has taken unusually large price cuts, and the QNAP TS x64 series is also sharply reduced. UGREEN and Terramaster have applied broad 15% to 25% discounts across their 2024 and 2025 ranges. Seagate’s 28TB IronWolf Pro is down to $449 at multiple stores, and the Beelink ME Mini N150 bundle has dropped to $279 which makes it one of the strongest compact server offers this year. UnRAID licences are 25% off with an added $15 voucher, and Plex Pass is 40% off across monthly, yearly, and lifetime tiers. UniFi has also rolled out large network hardware reductions including cuts on its gateways, routers, and WiFi 7 devices. Below you will find updated recommendations for NAS systems for backups, Plex, business, and surveillance, along with live links to the best deals as they continue to appear through the day.

Seeing how internet providers are throttling the speed, for me it’s Gbs. It makes less sense to go from discs to SSDs. Sure the LAN can benefit. But it’s just not worth it

You ought to note at 15:35 that this is a QLC SSD without DRAM (Acer FA200 @ $209 for 4 TB). Nearly bought it until I looked it up in the TechPowerUp database. Same with Costco’s Lexar Play SE 4TB for $225. “SE” is QLC, but most do not disclose it. Not highly recommended for any NAS work!

nvme ssd prices are terrible this black friday. the same spec drives are more than they were last year not less. for example, samsung pro 990 gen 4 4tb went for $250 last year, but this year it is up at $300 sale price. the same ssd. gen 5s are upwards of 700+ at a black friday deal. they try to lure you in with cheaper ssd nas hardware, but you are paying for it in the storage medium.
i hear beryl 7 is right around the corner and better to hold off for that one than getting the slate 7 at black friday sale. but do your own research.

I agree with the other comment. UK Synology deals on Amazon are not deals. You can buy them cheaper elsewhere and you could before the black friday bullsh*t started.
REPLY ON YOUTUBE
The Synology DS425+ is NOT discounted in the UK, which is a real bummer. On Amazon in the US it’s just $416, yet in the UK it’s still £450. Ok, so you’ve got to add sales tax in the US, but that’s still a huge disparity in price ????

I got a terramaster f4 425 for 320. I was getting into building a custome NAS and when I saw the specs on this thing I couldn’t build the same quality at that price. What they offer would cost you 500-600 dollars

Bear in mind, power consumption is just one factor, performance and bandwidth requires PCIE lanes. And the lesser CPUs lack enough for good bandwidth. Verify layout of peripherals first. These prices are silly. One can buy an entire stand alone NAS ready to run with 4-5 drive slots.

No more Synology for me. The power supply on my RS2418+ recently died and I’m looking to replace it with a newer unit. In the past, I would just order a new Synology, but this time I’m going to get a UNAS Pro 8. I’m also advising all my clients to start moving away from Synology for their next purchase.

I am a bit confised mate, keen to buy using you reference codes, but the website is only showing US deals in dollars. I am in the UK, can I filter it to see UK drives and deals, with affiliate links so you get the commission. I am buying my first Nas before Xmas, quite likley during black friday

The WD SN850X absolutely needs to get down to under $450 to even be interesting… and $400 would be a solid buy! The Samsung 9100 Pro should really be below $600 to be interesting, and honestly I probably wouldn’t buy it until it is at least below $500.

What a ripoff! Noted down disk prices 2 months ago. Just before Black Friday they went up 50% and now they are cheaper? KEKW! One idiot born every tenth of a second. If you want cheap tech go to a liquidation sale.
REPLY ON YOUTUBE
BTW, the reason why the US doesn’t display prices with tax is because of the variability of taxes in the US. There is no federal sales tax rate, each state can set their own sales tax, counties can also set a sales tax, and cities can have a sales tax as well.

I grabbed a WD 14Tb elements external back drive for US$169. Looked up the internal HDD using HDDscan and looks like a helium filled 7200 rpm enterprise drive. Feel I got a good deal. She is backing up my UGreen NAS essential data.

Been running the TerraMaster F6-424 Max for over six months now — six 20TB drives in RAID 6, dual 10GbE hitting real-world writes over 2000 MB/s! It’s a dream for the whole team editing and sharing 4K RAW at the same time. Already got one at home, planning to snag another on Black Friday for my personal office.

I have 4x ironwolf drives that need a home so I’m buying a qnap TR-004, on sale as usual under $200. Even if it sucks, I’ll have some way to use these 4 perfectly good but slightly small ironwolf drives in RAID connected to my TS-453mini. Performance? Who cares. It’s gonna be a place to stash photos at raid 5.
REPLY ON YOUTUBE
I love your reviews. Can you tell me which SSD I should get to put in a TerraMaster F4-425 Plus? It’s limited to gen 3.0×1 so even a gen3 drive would be fine but I need a 2TB version with DRAM and a heatsink that will FIT into this NAS. What are your thoughts?
REPLY ON YOUTUBE
Because nobody is buying Synology anymore.

That hard drive is half the price ($700aud) of a the same drive in Australia. I can find the 24tb for $200 more. But 28tb ????. Hoping I’ll see deals on 18tb drives, hard drives are stupidly expensive in Australia right now. There’s a grey market supplier that is selling 8tb ironwolf pro for $600aud
REPLY ON YOUTUBE
Synology is being weird right now. Where I am, my local shop has the DS1825+ reduced by $450 CAD, and they list it as “while supplies last” which they usually don’t do unless they are clearing stock to make way for new models. Makes me wonder if Synology is prepping a mid-cycle refresh like a DS1826+ maybe? Wouldn’t be the first time they’ve done that.

Great vid. I’m in the market for a new NAS for a roaming GPU-powered AI fortress idea I’m currently building with my family.
I was wondering if you offer any consultations? I can easily just toss a Syno DS in this thing and call it a day but the whole buildout needs an extra pair of eyes for redundancy, DR, etc.
Either way, thanks for the content!

B&H has better deals on Synology than Amazon as of now.

Not impressed with any of these deals. Show me an 8TB NAS Hard Drive for 85 dollars or something, that’s a deal I could wrap my money around. I can’t even buy the family breakfast at a diner for any of these savings. The NAS deals for a hundred or more off are OK, but honestly, I would rather see sales on the Hard drives. Show me a 600-dollar NAS for 300, that’s how we define banger deal in the US. I know it’s a regional UK thing, but the way you say router with a looooong O always make me laugh…good stuff. They can keep the 600-dollar plus NVMEs, hard pass. The UGREEN deals are laughable, they have already had the same deals well before Black Friday. All good, but another disappointing Black Friday set of deals. The absolute best deal you have shown is the M1 Minis forum PC. Too bad I already have more PCs than I need. The Motherboard deal with a prepopulated CPU is a pretty good deal as well. Too bad I already have 2 DIY NAS devices. I am staying away from Synology unless they put a 75% discount on their NAS devices.

This maybe is not the video, but I wanted to ask. I purchased the UGREEN DXP4800 Plus and so far it is wonderful. However, I am not able to download the app for my iPhone or Android devices. Apparently it is not available on all the markets. Could you talk to them and ask when are they going international with their apps? I purchased it from the US but my account is in Panama. Thank you.

Synology can offer as much discount as it wants, I still wouldn’t touch their products, trust is broken, and there’s no assurances they won’t remove features or lock out hardware.
I’ve got the QNAP TS-464, the one with upgradeable RAM, not the current soldered RAM version, I’ve generally been happy with it, but would I buy it today? No I don’t think I would, the N100 and N150 CPUs are faster CPUs, and UGreen’s Intel Pentium Gold 8505 crushes the Intel N5105, plus you get 10Gbe built in with the UGreen 4-bay and it’s less money, I put a 10Gbe add in card to my TS-464, but due to the N5105 lane allocation you don’t get 10GBe, it floats between 2.5GBe and 5Gbe in the real world, good enough to edit 1080p directly, but long term I’m going DIY next “upgrade”. The only way I’d be buying the TS-464 today is used and half the retail price. There’s much better hardware offerings for the same or better price.
I bought the CWWK Intel N305 in the summer sales, for a DIY NAS to live at my sister’s, I paid £178.32 with no import costs for it, I couldn’t justify the bump in price for the N355 since it will only be for mass storage, CCTV and media playback, maybe Home Assistant down the line, not much different to what I’m doing on my N5105, so I knew the N305 would handle it’s use case, but I wanted the headroom and 10GBe coz I don’t intend to replace it until it’s basically dead or crawling. I’ve had it running at mine for testing 24/7 since middle of August, coz my sister’s not moved to their new house yet, and I’ve had zero issues. I have swapped out the 16GB RAM I initially installed for 48GB though, as TrueNAS uses 8GB and a couple of containers, plus Proxmox overhead, then spinning up a Linux VM with 4GB caused the system to shutdown, but that was on me, first time I’ve set up TrueNAS and didn’t think about RAM allocation planning, but at least I know the CWWK motherboard will protect itself.
Advice on RAM and SSDs, if you see a good deal, anywhere, new or used, buy it, coz GamersNexus is predicting a 2 year rough period due to AI BS hoovering up all the chips, leaving us consumers high and dry. I am assuming HDD prices are also related to AI data centers causing shortages and price increases, but that’s only my hunch. PC and NAS builders are in for a torrid time. The 48GB DDR5 Sodimm stick I got, retail in late August was £100, now it’s £229 on Amazon, thankfully I found an ebay seller willing to take £80 on a listing of £100, I feel lucky after I saw the steep increase that I wasn’t initially aware of.

I just bought a Beelink EQR6 Ryzen 5 24GB RAM, and a Crucial 4Tb SSD, for less than a turnkey NAS. It’ll run rings around a turnkey NAS and provide more than enough storage for my needs, all while being near silent. I may add a second 4Tb SSD as a parity drive. I’m probably going to use unraid so that I have that choice.
If I had need for more than 16TB storage, I’d probably build a DIY NAS and run TrueNas Scale.

Are all countries doing Tariff’s next year? or just the America?

So I bought the Terramaster F2 424 for Black Friday. This is gonna be my first NAS. I was wondering since I see you have a few videos on this device. I need it for backing up my MacBook and my iPhone plus be a storage area for all my photography. Client photos, and hopefully powerful enough to edit photos straight from the device. I was wondering, is there a good app for that they offer to back up the MacBook and MacBook Pro kinda like Synology?

But where are those Jonsbo n5 cases at that price? Yesterday and today I’ve scoured Aliexpress and I haven’t found anything under 220 euros.

@Robbie
Hey, apparently on the WAN Show tonight, Linus was talking about HexOS being released beta for testing, said he had a video all about it that comes out this Sunday on his channel, and that there will definitely be a one time payment lifetime access plan ($50 today, $100 in December … eventually $300 long term – you might want to get ahead on that) and … that iX Systems is actually an Angel Investor in this company … thats who owns TrueNAS.
Did ya know that?

Love the time stamps but white writing on white backgrounds make them less than ideal.
I’m going to take a punt and assume “Same as last year – Nothing for Australia”.

I was very confused, when an AI Voice started to dub the video in german, very creepy

I have 2 Synology NAS’s a 418 and 920+ but my next NAS will the UniFi NAS. Synology has lost the vision for prosumers I feel. I do love the DSM OS and ability to run Docker, Plex, etc. natively but for about one hundred bucks you can get a Zima board that you can run all those apps on. Lack of network ports that are above 1 Gig is a dealbreaker for a lot of people.

Not worth buying whatever price because Synology just dropped HEIC support. All my iphone photos cant be face recognized anymore on Synology Photos. WTH. Synology just broken all the trust removing only reaaon i bought Synology. WTF.

Mmmm tempted with the 1621+ for £800 as keep looking to move away from QNAP TS-873A

Hey HexOS is doing a pre sale and is doing a beta launch on the 30th iirc. Will you do a revisit to the video you made a few months ago?

A few days ago I bought a WD EasyStore 20TB USB drive off of BestBuy for ~$250 chuffing USD. Not bad IMO. I might buy another as it’s still at that price. Just started an extended S.M.A.R.T test on it and that will likely take days.

Thanks!

i did get a TL-SX105 for $70 off though

The Synology DiskStation DS223j/G NAS Kit is going for 24,400 yen here on amazon. I don’t know if that’s a good price or not.
REPLY ON YOUTUBE
No big discounts which means Synology doesn’t need to lower the prices
REPLY ON YOUTUBE
With DSM 7.2.2 taking away h264,h265 and HEVC support what are your recommendations for a Plex NAS? I love my DS918+ but it’s getting a bit old and slow.
REPLY ON YOUTUBE
4% off RRP does not a Black Friday deal make.
REPLY ON YOUTUBE
I don’t want to add salt to your food, but nxt year in April/May both QNAP and Synology will launch a completely new line. Isn’t it wiser to keep your money in your pocket and save up for a new generation NAS!

I bought that 923+ this morning. ????????

These NAS’s are rubbish. The neccessary upgrades needed for them are a rip off.

hey, can a DAS can be turned into a NAS with a mini PC and unraid or something like that? I allready ahve the mini PC and Im really short on budget

Any idea what 4TB and 8TB ssds work on TERRAMASTER F8 SSD PLUS that is a great deal on Black Friday? The comparison chart on the Terramaster store is very old
REPLY ON YOUTUBE
Unfortunately there won’t be 1825+, or at least with the hardware we would like to see. There is no way Synology will cannibalize their 1823xs+ sales…
REPLY ON YOUTUBE
Such a shame about hardware in these. After watching your recent video on Asustor it seems to make more sense to get something like a Lockerstor Gen2 for just a bit more than a Synology DS923+.

Hm. If there are tariffs to the US, there is a good chance that the prices in Europe will go down. Because the produced goods have to go somewhere. So prices will probably get under pressure.

Once upon a time, black friday was THE time to buy electronics and computer parts…especially motherboards. I’d say for about ten years now that hasn’t been the case. Monitors, TVs, pc parts, NAS’s have been having their all time lowest prices from around mid Spring time thru Summer. I’ve still seen some super low prices on some gaming consoles and of course the budget tier TVs usually like you say Rob, about 1-3 weeks prior to black friday. I’m guessing I have around 1,000 or so camelcamelcamel price alerts set up and I’ve only been getting 3-6 daily price alert emails, same for prime day which means the prices are higher than their recent lows. There is some exceptions to the triple camel and that is the bonus % on a prime card and some sales don’t hit camelcamelcamel quick enough to alert the email but it’s rare.

Robert, again great video
Thanks you for sharing!
I was secretly looking for a new NAS, and I can’t say goodbye to the brand QNAP my current model TS-653D. But was so disappointed because after my firmware update ‘QTS firmware 5.2. 2. 2950’ I had so much trouble and I could no longer log in with my password and not even after a reset with the Cloud Key. The problem was ultimately in the QNAP QM2-2S10G1TA 2-Slot PCIe Network Expansion Card. After this I could log in with the Cloud Key (with 1 spare hard disk) Firmware downgraded and everything is now functional again. Only from now on I can no longer use my Twonkey Server because I performed a reset and it now indicates that this OS version no longer supports it. While on my identical other NAS that I had updated, but had not reset it just works fully. Very unfortunate, I was very frustrated about this, but QNAP has been in my heart since 2007! So this love can’t just end….

Would you recommend buying Aoostar Gem 10 with the occulink 4 bay m.2 extension as a NVME NAS?? They don’t have any deals on black friday but their pricing is really good especially in comparison to the CPU performance, and want to pull the plug on it.

all still overpriced and under-resourced

Grabbed the F4-424 Pro a week or so ago since Amazon Canada already moved some on a Limited Time Deal. Ironwolf 4TBs are holding at $124.99 CAD, so I’ll probably grab 2 to go with my existing 1 and populate my NAS after I get it setup with the OS on my (yet to arrive) SSD. I’m irritated that certain things I’d _like_ are gated behind Amazon Prime for this Black Friday though; _huge_ turnoff for any impulse purchasing when I see that already.
REPLY ON YOUTUBE
“Only buy stuff you need.” ????Get a 4 bay so you can add on drives later. indeed!

In central Europe Amazon dictated that Black Friday has already started. Deals for Hardware are worse than ever.

Is there something similar to the TS-1655 but with a cpu that has an igpu? That form factor is essentially what I’d love. Brand doesn’t very much matter to me
