Synology FS6400 FlashStation NAS Arrives with RAID F1 and Btrfs
FS6400 introduces the Btrfs file system, bringing the most advanced storage technologies to meet the management needs of modern businesses:
- Advanced snapshot technology provides schedulable, near-instantaneous data protection of shared folders and iSCSI LUNs
- File and folder level data restoration brings huge conveniences and saves time for users who wish to restore only a specific file or
folder. - Flexible shared folder and user quota system provide comprehensive quota control on all user accounts and shared folders
- File self-healing: Btrfs file system is able to auto-detect corrupted files with mirrored metadata and recover broken data using the supported RAID volumes, which include RAID1, 5, 6, 10, and Synology RAID F1.
Due to the nature of SSD and RAID technology, how to avoid all hard drives failing at the same point in time due to the even distribution of workloads to each hard disk is the most common problem. RAID F1 distributes workloads to each hard drive in a non-average manner through a specially designed algorithm to improve the life of the hard drive while increasing the durability of the storage area and ensuring the security of your data. Innocent.
Synology FS6400 FlashStation NAS Enterprise-Grade Application and Support
Powered by the innovative Synology DiskStation Manager (DSM), FS6400 comes fully-equipped with applications and features designed specifically for large-scale businesses
- Windows AD and LDAP support allows easy integration with existing business directory services.
- Windows ACL support provides fine-grained access control and efficient privilege settings, allowing FS6400 to fit seamlessly into existing infrastructure.
- Internet file access is simplified by the encrypted FTP server and the web-based file explorer Synology File Station. HTTPS, firewall, and IP auto-block support ensures file sharing over the Internet is protected with a high level of security.
- Application privileges control access to applications and packages based on each individual account, user group, or IP address.
Synology FS6400 FlashStation NAS and Virtualization Deployment
Synology iSCSI storage fully supports most virtualization solutions to enhance work efficiency with a simple management interface. VMware vSphere 6.5 and VAAI integration helps offload storage operations and optimizes computation efficiency. Windows Offloaded Data Transfer (ODX) speeds up data transfer and migration rates, while OpenStack Cinder support turns your Synology NAS into a block-based storage component.
Synology Virtual Machine Manager adds boundless capabilities to your NAS. Set up and run various virtual machines, including Windows, Linux, and Virtual DSM, so that you can test new software versions in a sandbox environment, isolate your customers’ machines, and increase the flexibility of your FS6400 with reduced hardware deployment and maintenance costs. The intuitive and easy-to-use Virtual Machine Manager opens up rich application possibilities for your Synology NAS server. You can install and run a variety of virtual machines including Windows, Linux, Virtual DSM, and more on your Synology NAS. More importantly, VMM provides a disaster recovery solution for your IT environment, helping to increase server management resiliency and maximize service uptime.
With VMM, you can build clustering architectures for up to seven Synology NASs. VMM clustering supports migration and elastic scalability for load balancing and resource configuration.

I have my data– ALL OFIT– on a 2T drive totally separate from EITHER of my systems (I usually run 2- 3 different os on my computer for variety).. and I have 2 external backups of my data. IF a system goes down- when I CAN- I use Timeshift.. WHAT ADVANTAGE would it be to ME to use BTRFS over EXT4??? IF it is- HOW do I convert my 2T drives with all the data to BRTFS?

I’m considering switching my data drive and backup to brtfs for the better integrity checking. I’ve been getting issues once in a while where files on my ext4 drive suddenly becoming 0 bytes and the same happens on my backup drive which both of are externals and I know it isn’t the external enclosure since it happened when the drive was in my old computer but it didn’t happen when my drives were formatted to ntfs when I used Windows so I’ve narrowed it down to something in the file system as of now but I can’t find information about the specific issue so I’m probably going to just try btrfs when I get another hard drive to use as an internal one without formatting my current drive giving me only one copy of my data during the transition.

I’m wondering if it is possible to host 2 unrelated instances of Chat for say ‘Work’ and ‘Church’ on my DS920+?

hello, I want to implement webhooks with php, can someone help me?

F2FS seems to have the best performance for SSDs. I use it for over 6 years without any issues.

Is it possible to set up two different chat teams on the same NAS? For instance one for the family and another one for my office staff. Also, is it possible to name these something other than “Chat”? Thank you so much for your excellent information. I purchased a Synology DS920+ based on your recommendations. I did not fully appreciate the value of the applications until I found your videos.
