AS1004T vs AS1104T

AS1004T vs AS1104T

Hello I currently have an ausustor as1002t 2 bay nas and am looking to upgrade to a 4 bay nas. Along with backups and file sharing with my family I have recently started with nextcloud and plex and was to make use of a few other apps on my nas and want to have plenty of space. I have been very happy with the ausutor so i was thinking of continuing with ausustor but see a few different options primarily 2 options that i really dont see what the difference is between the 2 models. the as1004t and the as1104t and they are both within the same price range. i saw your review of my current nas the as1002t which led me to this question on your website. Is there a major diference between the 1004t and the 1104t? I was unable to find a side by side comparison.

Asustor AS1004T is an older model and not any more widely available.
Here is the specs for older model:

CPU Model Marvell ARMADA-385
CPU Architecture ARM 32-bit
CPU Frequency Dual-Core 1GHz
Memory 512MB DDR3

And the new AS1104T
Realtek RTD1296 Quad-Core 1.4 GHz CPU
Uses 1 GB DDR4 – 40% more efficient
Superfast 2.5-Gigabit Ethernet

As you can see there is a much better CPU that is compatible with 4K Videos. Also faster DDR4 memory that will make those apps load faster.

And finally the faster 2.5GBE LAN ports. Maybe not available in most of the homes yet. But soon it will be.

I hope this helps.
