Asustor AS4004t or Synology DS918+

 I’ve looked into the DS218+ & DS718+. I’ve also looked at the Drobo, and briefly the WD. I’m now strongly thinking of the Asustor AS4004t. In your old vs new video with Eddie, you mentioned that your favorite brand might not be the top two. I’ve scoured most of you content on both channels, but cannot seem to glean which brand that may be. Nevertheless, have you had a chance to tinker with the new Asustor? I’d be curious on your thoughts.

My top choice would be DS918+ (or ds718+ as a 2bay option) or Qnap alternative TS-453Be (ts-253Be as 2-bay). Even though Asustor is doing an amazing job trying to replicate what other two NAS market leaders are doing, their software is still not convincing me to choose them. I love that they are releasing new models with 10GbE built in. This will be a new standard as a local network in a couple of years (at least in a business environment).

Asustor AS4004t is a much weaker option then Synology DS918+ if it comes down to things like transcoding and virtualization. This asustor is made for extremely fast backup tasks. It will also cope very well with multi-users connections allowing stable transfer speeds with new 10GbE bandwidth.
