I prefer to run Mac these days although i do have a copy of windows too, can i install a copy of Mac on the Synology? If so how?
There is a way to install MAC OS on a PC or virtual machine. For the best performance, you would need a NAS with Pentium or Core i3/i5/i7. For this purpose, the Qnap 1282 series would be the best fit. But if you are happy with a slow version of a MAC you can get away with a Dual Core processor (Quad core NAS with dual-core dedicated to a virtual machine).
First of all, you will need to install the Virtual Machine Manager app.
Then create a virtual machine using MAC ISO file.
And then you can launch the machine and start the installation process.
Before you get a NAS, make sure yours will be virtual machine compatible model. My recommendation for virtual machines especially Mac would be DS3617xs or DS3018xs because they come with Mac familiar Pentium and Xeon processors.

The minimum requirements that you are going to need are:
• a 64-Bit CPU
• at least 4GB RAM
• a Dual-Core processor
You may want to have a similar hardware like Apple have chosen for their previous MACs.
